We Understand Your Drive to Compete
Athletes are driven, self-confident, and competitive. Those traits that make you great on the field can work against you when you're injured — the temptation to push through pain or return too early is real. We understand that completely.
But when it comes to sports injuries, getting back too soon without proper care leads to bigger, more complicated problems down the road. A pulled hamstring that's rushed back can become a tear. Shin splints ignored through a season can develop into stress fractures. Tennis elbow left untreated can become chronic tendinopathy that sidelines you for months.
Jeffery Chiropractic has helped athletes across Layton, Clearfield, and Ogden recover properly and safely — from weekend warriors to competitive athletes. We are 100% committed to getting you off the sidelines and back in the game, the right way.

Our chiropractors treat a broad range of sports and activity-related injuries. The following represent the most common conditions we see from athletes in the Layton area — but this list is not exhaustive. If your injury isn't listed, call us.
Hamstring Strains
Pulls, partial tears, and complete tears of the hamstring muscles — common in sprinters and field athletes.
Shin Splints
Medial tibial stress syndrome — pain along the shinbone from overuse, improper footwear, or training surface changes.
Tennis & Golfer's Elbow
Lateral and medial epicondylitis — repetitive strain injuries causing pain and weakness in the forearm and elbow.
Knee Injuries
Sprains, ligament strains, patellar tendinitis, and IT band syndrome — affecting runners, cyclists, and team sport athletes.
Shoulder Injuries
Rotator cuff strains, AC joint sprains, and shoulder impingement — common in overhead athletes and weightlifters.
Ankle Sprains
Ligament damage from inversion or eversion injuries — one of the most common sports injuries across all disciplines.
Back Strains
Muscle and ligament strains of the lumbar spine from lifting, twisting, or impact — extremely common in contact sports.
Hip Flexor Strains
Overuse or acute strains of the hip flexor muscles — common in runners, cyclists, and kicking sport athletes.
Wrist Injuries
Sprains, tendinitis, and overuse injuries affecting gymnasts, racquet sport players, and contact sport athletes.
Why Chiropractic Works for Sports Injuries
Chiropractic care is uniquely effective for sports injuries because it addresses both the injury itself and the underlying biomechanical factors that caused it. Most sports injuries don't happen in isolation — they occur because of movement imbalances, restricted joints, or compensatory patterns that place excess stress on a particular structure.
By restoring proper spinal and joint alignment, reducing nerve irritation, and improving range of motion, chiropractic care treats the root cause — not just the symptom. Combined with soft tissue therapy, cold laser treatment, and a structured rehabilitation exercise program, our approach gets athletes back to full function faster and with lower risk of re-injury.
Your Recovery Plan — Step by Step
Initial Assessment & Nervous System Analysis
Dr. Jeffery gathers your full injury history, performs a thorough physical examination, and completes an in-depth nervous system analysis. Understanding the mechanism of injury and any underlying biomechanical factors is essential to building an effective recovery plan.
Targeted Treatment Plan
Based on your assessment, Dr. Jeffery develops a personalized treatment plan combining chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and where appropriate, cold laser therapy to reduce inflammation and accelerate healing at the tissue level.
At-Home Exercise Program
You'll receive a specific list of rehabilitation exercises to perform between sessions. These are designed to reinforce in-office treatment, maintain range of motion, and rebuild strength in the injured area — accelerating your return-to-sport timeline.
Progressive Return to Activity
Dr. Jeffery monitors your progress at each visit and adjusts your plan accordingly. When you're ready, he'll provide a clear, staged return-to-sport protocol — so you go back at the right time, at the right intensity, with confidence.
Honest About What We Can — and Can't — Treat
We take pride in being straightforward with every patient. While chiropractic care is effective for a wide range of sports injuries, some severe injuries — complete ligament tears, fractures, or injuries requiring surgical intervention — are best addressed by an orthopedic specialist.
If your injury falls outside the scope of what chiropractic care can effectively treat, Dr. Jeffery will tell you clearly and refer you to the appropriate provider. Your recovery is the goal — not keeping you on the treatment table longer than necessary.
Sports Injury FAQ
The number of sessions depends on the type and severity of your injury and how quickly your body responds to treatment. After your initial consultation and assessment, Dr. Jeffery will give you a realistic estimate with a clear timeline — along with at-home exercises designed to speed your progress between visits. We never recommend more sessions than are necessary.
We can effectively treat a wide range of sports injuries — sprains, strains, tendinitis, overuse injuries, and spinal conditions related to athletic activity. However, we have always taken an honest approach: if your injury is severe enough to require surgery or orthopedic intervention, we'll tell you straight and refer you to the right specialist. Your wellbeing matters more than keeping you as a patient.
Wear something comfortable and loose-fitting that allows easy movement and access to the injured area. Athletic wear is ideal. If necessary for a more accurate assessment, you may be asked to change into an examination gown.
Not at all. We treat athletes of all ages and ability levels — from youth sports players and weekend hikers to competitive runners and team sport athletes. Pain and injury don't discriminate, and neither do we. If you're active and you're hurting, we can help.
